This limited-edition scarf was created in celebration of World Refugee Day (June 20) and a continuation of Republic FC’s efforts to generate awareness for the current refugee crisis and Sacramento’s role as the largest resettlement location in the United States. 

Featuring the pairing of two tones, ultramarine blue and gold, they denote royalty and form a connection dating all the way back to antiquity. The utilization of the aesthetic brings a complexity to the scarf reminiscent of historical Indian Miniature work. 

The World Refugee Scarf is designed by local artist Sunroop Kaur, as part of our Artist Spotlight series. Her work is a fusion of classical Italian baroque styles with Indian miniature aesthetics. Allowing for exploration of her own identity and cultural context.
